Upcoming Events
- The next meeting of the Delaware Section of the American Water Resources Association will be held on October 12th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Delaware Center for Horticulture at 1810 N. DuPont St. in Wilmington, Delaware. The meeting topic will be groundwater contamination and drinking water in the Potomac Aquifer. We will have panelists from the EPA, USGS, DNREC, and Artesian Water Company discussing this topic and fielding questions from the group. The meeting will be set up so there is plenty of time for questions and discussion. The agenda will be sent out prior to the meeting.
- Riverfront Tree Planting, Saturday, October 30, 9:00 AM - 12 noon. Help plant 100 trees at the Wilmington Riverfront as we work towards planting 20,000 trees by 2020! In partnership with the Riverfront Development Corporation. Lunch will be provided.
- AWRA Annual Conference (co-hosted by DE AWRA) which will be held November 1-4, 2010 in Philadelphia. For more information and registration go to http://www.awra.org/meetings/Philadelphia2010/index.shtml .

- DENIN Inaugural Speaker Sandra Postel, May 10- Sandra Postel is the Director of Global Water Policy Project and Freshwater Fellow for the National Geographic Society. Shes a pretty big deal and had a hand in the most recent National Geographic mag that focused on water. She's speaking at UD in Mitchell Hall on May 10 at 7pm.
- Medicine Cabinet Clean-Out Day, May 14 8am-noon New Castle County Police Headquarters 3601 North DuPont Highway (Route 13), New Castle, Delaware. There was recently an article in the News Journal about traces of medication being in our public water supply. If you haven't read the article heres a link: http://www.delawareonline.com/article/20100427/NEWS/4270329/Medicines-show-up-in-water . In response to this the Delaware Division of Public Health is having a "Medicine Cabinet Clean-Out Day" where you can safely dispose of old medications. This is a serious concern in water quality so tell your friends!

- White Clay Creek Fest on May 1 from 12-4- We're not going officially as a group but it will be good times celebrating water! Erin and Sarah will be there at the WRA booth. http://www.whiteclay.org/node/231
- Earth Day baseball game- We celebrated Earth Day with the Wilmington Blue Rocks and some members from the Urban Affairs Student Association. There was Mr. Celery and Eco Recycle Man along with Rocky Bluewinkle, a giant peanut, and the Chik-fil-a cow!
- Tree Planting with Delaware Center for Horticulture- Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 8am. An urban tree planting in Wilmington where they need more trees!
- Christina River Watershed Cleanup- Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 8-12pm. We removed two tires and two bags of trash. Weirdest item found- a wireless card for laptops. Good work guys!
- DE AWRA State Chapter Meeting- Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 2:30-4:30 at the DuPont Environmental Education Center in Wimington. There was a panel discussion focusing on the current status and trends in the use of green BMP’s, green infrastructure practices in land-use and site design for stormwater management.
- 2009 DE AWRA Annual Dinner and Silent Auction - December 10, 2009. The State Section's annual dinner and the Student Chapter's 2nd Annual silent auction. Thank you to all who assisted and donated- it's very much appreciated!
- 2009 WaterQuest Scavenger Hunt- The Delaware Chapter held a scavenger hunt from October to mid-November which involved visiting various water-related sites throughout Delaware.
- Wilmington Drinking Water Tour - March 6, 2009. The student section (along with a couple of State Section members) toured Wilmington's Porter Filter Plant.
- 2008 DE AWRA Annual Dinner and Silent Auction - December 6, 2008. The State Section's annual dinner and the Student Chapter's first silent auction. It was a great success! Thanks to all those who assisted and donated to our cause.
- 2008 Water Quest Scavenger Hunt - DEAWRA State Section. Congratulations to the winners!!
- AWRA National Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana - November 17 - 20. DE AWRA Student Chapter Officers represented our group at the conference.

- Appoquinimink River Association Tree Planting at St. Andrew's School in the Appoquinimink River Watershed - September 24, 2008 - DE AWRA Student Chapter helped plant over 2,000 trees on 11.5 acres of riparian buffers.
- UD's Community Day - September 14, 2008 - Members of the student chapter helped out UD's Institute for Public Administration - Water Resources Agency's booth.
